Thank you very much for the heartening response to my request for assistance for our scriptwriters, who are working on a final draft of the film script of Father Elijah. We reached our objective because of your generosity. And many who couldn’t send a donation gave the priceless gift of prayer. From time to time I will be updating you on developments. Above all, I beg for your continued prayers that the Lord will “make a way through the desert.” If the spiritual message of this story is to be preserved intact and reach many souls, we will be facing a relentless battle. In fact, it has already begun.
There will always be a struggle whenever there are souls who will be helped to turn in the direction of salvation, by the grace of God working through an instrument of culture. There are trials and there are periods of testing when we must put one foot after another in total faith that Jesus is the Master of the Impossible. His “methodology” with us is to ask that we first make an act of total faith, and once we have put our feet on the path of abandonment, then comes confirmation and the resources to continue forward.

Winter Tales, a new collection of my imaginative stories for readers young and old has just been published by Justin Press, Ottawa. You can read more about it at the publisher's website: www.justinpress.ca
The final stage of preparation for printing my novel The Father’s Tale is underway. The book will be published by Ignatius Press in September (possibly October) of this year. For almost 14 years I have worked on this modern retelling of the parables of the Good Shepherd and the Prodigal Son combined. I’ll be sending a notice of its publication through this newsletter as soon as it becomes available.
You may be interested in seeing two articles, the first reporting on my contribution to a conference on sex abuse in the Church, held recently at St. Paul's University in Ottawa. It recounts my own experiences. The second is an interview I gave about a Canadian bishop, Raymond Lahey, who has been convicted of importing and distributing child pornography (so hideous a sin and crime that one shudders to mention it). The scandal should give us pause for reflection on the present condition of the particular churches, and on our need to pray always for the purification and strengthening of the Bride of Christ.
